For more than a year from now, the famous frontman of Eagles of Death Metal Jesse Hughes has been planning and recording a solo album apart from his band, and fans are poised to download the album to their Smart phones as soon as it is released. The rumours have been quite controversial and both skepticism and approval have been expressed by the fans and the music specialists.

Jesse, known under several nicknames such as the “The Devil”and “Boots Electric”, mentions in an interview for BBC on September the second, 2009 that he is anticipating this project and that he has several ambitious projects he is committed to. He expresses his desire to work with famous names from other music branches like Dr Dre and highlights this is a dream project for him. Definitely this would be a controversial piece of news for the fans of Eagles of Death Metal that are strongly supporting the band as a whole but it is doubtful whether they will be for the release of a solo album by one of its performers.

Hughes also mentions in the interview that the album title would be ’Boots Electric Fabulous Weapon’ which would be good for his newest and most famous nickname since he is known under it now. The performer obviously relies on an individual career since the name of the album contains his nickname - thus he would try to familiarize his name as a performer and try to gain more and more admirers for the future.

Jesse’s qualities as a singer are undoubtedly spectacular and hardly is there someone who would argue about that. However, such an emphasis on individuality and personal performance apart from the band might not be well accepted in the music society. Usually fans are against it since they support the unity within the group and metal fans might also stay a bit disappointed by the project with Dr Dre which will, to some extent, influence the pure metal music that Hughes is famous for.
